Knowing that your roofing contractor is insured should be music to your ears. But, why? You may think that if roofing contractors have good ratings, are licensed and do quality work accompanied with pictures to prove it, then why not choose them? Now, even if they are good all around, but aren’t insured, all that goes out the window.
Insurance is Expensive
Even though insurance is where most homeowners who are looking for contractors draw the line between a good contractor and a bad contractor, some companies do skip out on this step even though it is required by law. When a roofer is insured, you know that they are dedicated to their work. If they are willing to spend money on something as expensive as insurance, even if their work is phenomenal, just so you perceive them in a light which reflects who they are as a company, they are a group you want to work with.
Differences in Insurances
General liability insurance covers your things on your property, so if something is ruined on your property, it will already be covered. Why would you choose, hire and even think about paying any company that could break something on your property, and not have to pay for it? Liability insurance is a no-brainer if you want to choose the right roofing company.
Workers’ compensation covers only the crew. If a team member gets hurt on the job, you won’t have to fret because the costs will be covered by the insurance company that the roofing company is protected by, even if the injury occurred on your property.
Reassurance with an Insured Roofer
When an insured roofer is working on your roof, you won’t have to worry a bit. If they are completely covered, and something bad does end up happening on your roof, you will be at no fault, and all costs will be covered. Even if the roofing company says they have never had any accidents, don’t choose them unless they have insurance because accidents can always happen.
There is no way to get around it, if you are due to have roof work done, you must choose an insured roofer. You can rest easy at night knowing you won’t have to think about much other than paying the bills on time. Even if somebody does get hurt, it won’t be your problem.
